About this vacancy

The Mechanical Designer / Work Preparator is responsible for the design, development, and documentation of mechanical components, assemblies, and systems. This role supports engineering projects from concept through to manufacturing, ensuring that all designs meet technical, safety, quality, and cost requirements. The Mechanical Designer / Preparator works closely with Project Engineers, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Quality teams to deliver robust and efficient design solutions. You will be reporting to the Engineering Manager / Project Lead.

Work description

– Develop detailed 3D models using SolidWorks software.
– Create manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
– Design mechanical components and systems in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
– Perform tolerance analysis and ensure manufacturability of designs.
– Support product development, prototyping, and testing activities.
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth transition from design to production.
– Participate in design reviews and implement improvements where necessary.
– Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.
– Assist with technical documentation, manuals, and technical files.
– Support continuous improvement and product optimization initiatives.
– Hands On approach supporting the Manufacturing team within the factory.

They are specialized in manufacturing Mechanical & Electromechanical Interlock & Process Safety solutions.

This location has around 14 experienced and diverse (some Dutch, some foreign) team members that work tightly together to guarantee the safest solutions and provide professional services towards their clients.

Their products cross all Industrial boundaries of Operational Process Safety, and not only within the oil & gas environment. They are also there to support their clients, advise on process safety, mitigate any human failure, to ensure people go home safely at night to their families, and create a safer working environment.

Who are you?

Required Opleidingsniveaus:

  • MTS diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 1 years of experience in mechanical design (industry-specific experience preferred), training & Support will be given.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with technical drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • You live within around 50km of Rijen.

Skills & Competencies:

– Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
– Attention to detail and accuracy.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
– Excellent communication skills (written and verbal English necessary, Dutch optional).
– Time management and ability to meet deadlines.
– Practical understanding of fabrication, machining, and assembly processes.

Preferred (Optional)

– Experience in process safety, valves, actuators, or industrial equipment.
– Previous experience working in an international environment.
– Familiarity with ERP systems and document control processes.
